Question: How long should I wait for a job offer after taking an interview? The initial feedback from the recruiting agency was that everyone was impressed with my resume and my interview, but I have been waiting for a response for over a week now. What should I do?

Answer: Usually, you should get a response within a week. You should contact the employer to know whether they’ve made a final decision on the candidates they interviewed. Some employers take a while to contact the applicants they want to hire. If they’ve decided to pass on you, at least you’ll have some closure. Also, note that a “thank you” letter after an interview is always appreciated. You should let them know you’re interested.

Beware: Don’t Send Money Through Western Union To Chinese Suppliers!

Question: I have found an electronic product (Laptop) that a Chinese company is selling on Alibaba.com. They are not accepting PayPal and want payment by Western Union. Is it safe?

Answer: No. It is not safe! Please dump this seller ASAP because it is most likely fraud. A vast majority of Chinese companies operating on Alibaba (and other such sites) are fraud. We have learned this from first hand experience. They are waiting to steal your money, and Western Union is the best way for them because they can vanish after receiving your money.

While we can’t blame Western Union entirely for it, we think that Western Union does not mind such fraud. Otherwise, why do they allow people/companies to operate accounts from China even after their names are listed as scam all over the web?

So yes, it is very risky if you are sending money to people that you do not know. With Western Union, there is no way to guarantee that the receiver will send you the good.

HallMark Postcard Virus update

Do NOT open any message with an attachment entitled ‘POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,’ regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which ‘burns’ the whole hard disc C of your computer.

This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list.

So if you receive a mail called’ POSTCARD,’ even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as most destructive. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday and there is no repair yet for this virus. It destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Drive.
